Install Web Server on Debian/Raspbian OS From Scratch

Let's take a quick look at how to install an Apache2 web server with PHP, SQL, and PHPmyadmin mods. In the beginning of the video, I will flash the Raspbian OS onto my Raspberry Pi SD card using the Gnome disk utility, then install Apache2, PHP, PHPmyadmin, and database mods. This a great project for new web developers to understand how to acquire the components for a modern web server.

Commands Used in this Video:

sudo apt-get install apache2

sudo a2enmod rewrite

sudo service apache2 restart

sudo apt-get install php libapache2-mod-php

sudo apt-get install mariadb-server php-mysql

sudo service apache2 restart

sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin

set apache2 check box

NO config DB

sudo mysql -u root

use mysql;

update user set plugin='' where User='root';

flush privileges;

\quit

cd /etc/apache2/conf-available

sudo ln -s ../../phpmyadmin/apache.conf phpmyadmin.conf

cd /etc/apache2/conf-enabled

sudo ln -s ../conf-available/phpmyadmin.conf phpmyadmin.conf
